Really hoping the success of Stellar Blade is laying a level of confident groundwork that could see another mainline Dead or Alive game get released worldwide without being waterd down from its original vision. Maybe a Ninja Gaiden game or even a revival of shelved projects like DoA Code Cronus. Even Tekken seems to have more of an identity crisis compared to its previous entries it feels... possibly from things like the new characters and even heat system that makes the game feel more basic and one-button compared to previous entries, as well as hastily assimilating ideas seen in other titles like DoA (the arena breaks, the watered down outfits). I guess this is what heppens when the competition in the 3d fighting game space fades away, and you have to also somehow appeal to the masses. Edit: also I'm thinking about that DoA Extreme Venus Vacation spinoff self playing gacha game which seems to be doing very well and receives updates like new character and constant streams of outfits. It isn't even available in most places without doing some region changing shenanigans. I don't think KT will let that be the only remaining legacy of DoA and Ninja Gaiden give or take a few easter eggs in other titles. Will a new DoA or NG be a fresh reboot and relegate Venus Vacation as even more of a non cannon side game, or will they lean into the fact they currently have this gigantic existing roster of female characters and other assets that aren't doing much outside their little gacha game?

I find it crazy that DOA Xtreme on PC, the Gooner Gatcha Volleyball Manager, has more players playing that than both DOA5 AND 6 Combined. It hurts knowing that plus Tekken is the only 3D fighter people are playing...

DOA is such a cool game and to think that Tekken is the only 3D game option available in the market now is a shame, so much miss opportunity like DOA, Virtua Fighter, Bloody Roar, even Soul Calibur to bring more competition. Tekken devs can do whatever they want because they know there's no other option to go

I believe that if Tecmo gives DOA another chance it could blow up as long as they don't get greedy with microtransactions and bring in something new.

Here's a thought: Dead or Alive 6 Ultimate. Launch title for the Switch 2, contains ALL the DLC from the base game. Adds new stages, characters, and content. Rework the game's balance, brings back Tag mode. Rework DOA Quest to be something closer to Chronicle mode from DoA: Dimensions and give players overview of the entire DoA storyline. Rollback netcode. And finally, rework Arcade mode to have an actual final boss and give each character their own Arcade Endings again.

Half of me wants a new doa game but the other half is uneasy. If a doa game is released in todays social climate, its only a matter of time before "globalization standards" kicks in just to stay relevant in the competitive scene. I wanted my prediction to be wrong when I called it on tekken 8. Low and behold its not even a year and Miss Okuma kun enters Bamco with her DEI speech. The year of the dragon fucking sucks. X.x

If doa gets a new game, I'm not playing tekken anymore. Tekken 8 is trash, and I dont care who tries to defend it.

Funny because that one xtreme game on pc, Venus vacation, is still getting updated to this day by adding more characters. So clearly there is still some acknowledgement of the series, even if it's for a gacha game. I don't think DOA is gonna get abandoned - I hope not, we need more 3d fighters period - but exactly when we'll get a new game is hard to say. All we can do is cherish DOA6++ for the time being and use our voices to express interest in a new title.

Dead or Alive is what Tekken thinks it is and we know it! because you take a step back on the 2 games you realize that Tekken is like a prototype of Doa, less good gameplay, similar characters but less deep, less good content, Doa implemented the tag system before Tekken, a less good counter system that requires less risk (which was pushed with Tekken 8), less good balancing, the addition of dangerous areas but less optimized, slower, less fluid. The only thing Tekken has over Dead Or Alive is popularity and frame data! Because when you look at Tekken 8, you literally see a Tekken turned into a Dead Or Alive (as you said), the dangerous zone systems, the addition of weird cosmetics, making the game more accessible. That's literally what Doa's been doing for years! But the big difference between that and Dead Or Alive is that it's the very basis of the game, to have a fighting game that's easier to access and to have a different vision of the fighting video game by implementing new things (at a low level, of course) and to be able to enjoy the fighting system, and Dead Or Alive is at the origin of a lot of things in the fighting game world right now, or even in general. All this to say that I love Tekken, but I think it gets too many credits (which is fine), but Dead Or Alive deserves them all for the influence it has had.

I hope this reaches them we are in need of a new great doa game

Hey Emery I think the reason why they started shifting their focus away from DOA is because Koei Tecmo is trying to bring back old stuff and renew it Like they are trying to bring back dynasty warriors and other stuff so I feel like they are trying to revive all their biggest IPs

Ironically, my dream game is a Tekken x DOA crossover. Its impossible, I know but its both my favorite franchises (since Soul Calibur is a weapon fighter)

We're gonna see a new DOA eventually. I'm not sure when but we'll see one. It's been awhile since I played DOA myself but I been wanting to get back to it. I might even start playing it on my channel to help bring more people to it so that when a new one comes out we'll have more people playing it to help prevent whenever happened to the last one.

Knowing Koei Techmo they are probably focusing on one IP at a time for the moment. I think once dynasty warriors origins wraps up we might get another DOA game in the future. Don't hold me to that though

KT already been cooking with Dynasty Warriors Origins and upcoming Atelier Yumia (both are their flagship IPs and will release on 2025) I'd rather let SEGA announce NEW Virtua Fighter

Don't know about you, but I'm at the point where I wouldn't a buy new DOA game that isn't better than or as good as DOA4. Yes it's nice to get new material, but I've already dealt with the feeling while playing, of "Why don't I just play DOA4 instead?" / "I wish I was playing DOA4 instead", and so I've learned my lesson that content for content's sake isn't what I really want. I want advancement, progression, faithful continuation---which to me, these latest games weren't.

Honestly you’re saving yourself a lot of time, money and IQ by not playing that trash game. It’s incredibly unbalanced, filled with glitches/bugs, Toxic players and overpriced dlc that will ultimately be useless once the servers shut down 10 to 15 years from now.
